Inspired by his babysitter who was a model in the 1960’s, Tim Alan used to sit at the kitchen table in New Jersey and watch as she applied her make-up. He became fascinated as he was being introduced to the world of color at a very young age. At six years old, he started coloring and painting the faces he saw in his coloring books. That soon led to art classes. Art classes took priority in his life. He enjoyed every aspect of art. In high school, Tim participated in Fashion Merchandising classes. He went on to become President of DECA and treasurer of FBLA. Following high school, it was on to cosmetology! Tim started working in a local salon and quickly built a loyal following. He will be the first to admit he wasn’t yet the best at his craft of make-up artistry, but he attributes most of his early success to his personality. Those of us fortunate enough to know Tim can attest to that – he is a kind, compassionate person, with an unmatched sense of humor. He posseses a unique combination of being a great listener and even better conversationalist. Everyone believed in Tim because he believed in himself. Confidence is powerful!
Taking NYC by storm (or so he thought), Tim landed a job at Macy’s Herald Square as a make-up artist at the Christian Dior counter along side of “Billy B”. Billy B is the make-up artist for Lady Gaga. From there he moved to Saks and his exposure was building! Then the big step, trusting his abilities and following his vision, he quit it all and started his own business. He went on to work in the television and fashion industry. His list of celebrities include Alec Baldwin, Kelly RIpa, Ryan Phillippe, Neai Long, Arnold Schwarzenegger, super model Emme from Fashion Emergency, super model turned actress Garcelle Beauvais, professional golfer Arnold Palmer, tennis icon Billie Jean King, Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke of Dancing with the Stars fame, soap opera icon Susan Lucci, celebrity chef and TV Food Network star Bobby Flay, founder and the first editor and chief of Cosmopolitan Magazine Helen Gurly Brown (he actually did her make-up for her final portrait), and many, many, more! he is the author of “Two-Faced” a guide to his take on beauty. It reads like a private make-up lesson with Tim! Autographed copies for purchase can be found in the BARBIZON OF RED BANK studio located at 80 Broad Street. He is also the creator of his exclusive line of CHRYSALIS PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP BRUSHES which are sold throughout the country.
These days, Tim can be found doing photo shoots across the country and internationally for editorial pieces and television work. He will also be spending the day with us, right here at the BARBIZON OF RED BANK studio on our upcoming photo shoot!
